Pilates Benefits
As I;ve move into midlife I understand how important physical health is to ensure a good quality of life. Your muscle tone decreases by 10% every decade of your life, add to that the hormone change effect over 40. So it becomes important to invest in strengthening your posture, core and pelvic floor function (including men).
I was a fitness class teacher in my twenties. So I am now expanding my knowledge of fitness, with my bodywork, Thai massage and assisted stretching qualifications, by further studying towards my recognised HFE/YMCA Mat Pilates qualification. My aim will be to run local classes alongside my soundbaths, retreats and also private sessions.
What is Mat Pilates?
Pilates supports improved flexibility, strength and self confidence. My focus will be on beginners to intermediate ability, so nearly everyone will be supported. The focus will be on improving body health with improved flexibility, whilst also strengthening your core, posture, balance and pelvic floor.
The aim is to work at your ability and progress at a level that works for you. But commitment to regular classes is the only way to see changes in your body. It is suitable for people of most fitness abilities and ages, and remember exercises can be adapted. Please check with your GP if you have any concerns.
