What is Pilates?

​What is Pilates?

My mat Pilates classes are suitable for most adults and are ideal for beginners to intermediate levels. Pilates helps to build strength, improves mobility and is gentle on joints. Other benefits are listed below. 

I like to think of Pilates as the perfect mix of yoga and body conditioning. It offers the controlled strength and flexibility of yoga (without the hyper-flexibility or headstands), combined with the toning power of body conditioning training. 

I keep my classes small, so that I can adjust exercises to suit your level. I closely observe your posture, offering adjustments and guidance. 

 

​​​There is no quick fix when it comes to fitness. Results come from ongoing commitment to your physical health and wellbeing. 

Pilates exercise benefits: 

  • Balance and coordination 

  • Strengthen your core and whole body muscle tone

  • Improved Posture and body alignment

  • Improves flexibility and joint mobility

  • Strengthens Pelvic floor muscles - improving bladder and bowel health. Increasing libido

  • Stabilises hip, back and neck, aiming to reduce discomfort

  • Reduce stress and lifts mood. 

  • Increases oxyden intake.

​My Pilates may not be suitable for some health contraindications or limited physical abilities. Please check with your GP if unsure.

My classes are not suitable for pregnancy or children under 16. Other conditions not suitable are: Unstable or high blood pressure, herniated disc, Severe osteoporosis, risk of blood clots, heart disease, unmanaged diabetes​.

Every Wednesday 7:30-8:30pm

Class Cost: 

  • Booking a whole month saves you £10.

  • Weekly by week advance booking is also available. 

Prepaid considerations:

  • Monthly prepaid sessions, must be used within that month (no transfers or refunds).

  • Completing a Par Q health questionnaire is required. 

  • Sessions are not refundable or transferable

  • However, another person can use your session. But I will need their full details and they must complete a Par Q health questionnaire.

  • Prebooking onto sessions is essential.

£50 x 1 hour individually booked  

£185 bulk buy 4 hours (£15 saving)

These private 1 hour tailored training sessions, at my Bushey therapy room, are an investment into your long term physical health and will increase your body confidence. 

 

Using tailored Pilates exercises, with assisted stretch. Strengthening your body to improve posture and muscle tone. Stretching your body to reduce tight body pain and increase mobility. With the support of resistance equipment (not reformer). 

 

Your tailored sessions may include: 

  • Full body Pilates toning

  • Core and posture strengthening

  • Pelvic Floor strengthening 

  • Resistance strengthening

  • Improving body balance

  • Breathwork control

  • Improve flexibility and mobility

  • Reducing body muscle tightness ​​​

  • Improving your body confidence

Of course, there is no one session magic pill. A tester session is offered, but a course of sessions will give you results. 

Does Pilates help you loose weight?​

 

The aim of Pilates is not as a weight loss tool, but like any exercise it will contribute to your feeling stronger, more toned, improve the posture, and overall wellbeing. You will feel more confident about your body as a result.
